Playing Politics

Thursday, August 1st, 2013

For background, please see my post (directly below this post) dated June 30, 2013.

The prosecutor can still do the right thing and try to do justice here.  I will concede, Missouri law does not allow the prosecutor to charge Thomas Newhouse with killing his pet.  That’s a shame, but not likely to change as it will not be a priority with our lawmakers.  While some pet owners are bad pet owners, 99.99% of pet owners would not murder their pet.  People of very simple elementary intelligence know the difference between a humane ending and grotesque torture.  It’s just a matter of reality that lawmakers can’t fix and address everything.

The good news is Missouri law still provides plenty of power to a prosecutor willing to enforce the law.  Missouri law easily allows the prosecutor to charge this evil monster that tormented his pet cat by drowning with violating Missouri Revised Statute 578.012.1(2).  Every moment that cat suffered before God finally stopped the pain is a violation of Missouri law.  The prosecutor has used his discretion to not seek justice, and so the people of Missouri that are outraged by this execution will never get justice; this state has been wronged by both Thomas Newhouse and the prosecutor.

For this prosecutor to pretend he is powerless is absurd; it is a pathetic excuse for failing to faithfully execute his duties.  This great state does not tolerate playing politics like the games played in DC.  We don’t allow our public officials just to blame congress while doing nothing.  The solution here is not ‘more law’ or ‘new law’.  The solution here is to effectively enforce existing law.

I want to offer my gratitude to anyone who read my blog on June 30th and contacted this prosecutor requesting an explanation as to why he won’t prosecute this horrendous crime.  He has not responded to me.  If he responds to you, I would be thankful if you would forward his response onto me.   Please remember this prosecutor’s failure here in the event he runs for any political office in the future; he will just play politics and this state deserves better.
